Note about Publishing and Academic Rates

The acceptance of academic user rates also means that a laboratory user accepts our policy on acknowledgement in and notification of publication -- please familiarize yourself with this policy.

All users of the Electron Microprobe Laboratory should acknowledge the facility in their publications and presentations -- this is how we "advertise" our microanalytical services. A failure to do so is harmful to the laboratory. In addition, when a project is complete, we request that all users provide us with a copy of the manuscript, which we will keep for our records. This, too, is important for our facility. Proper citation and these manuscripts provide justification for continued support of this laboratory.

When analyses conducted at the Electron Microprobe Laboratory are published in journals, book chapters, conference proceedings, or theses, we request the manuscript includes an acknowledgement along the following lines:

Electron microprobe analyses were carried out at the Electron Microprobe Laboratory, Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

In talks, an acknowledgement along the following lines is reqested:

Analyses carried out at the University of Minnesota Electron Microprobe Laboratory.

Users are also asked to consider including extensive assistance provided by laboratory staff in their acknowledgements.
